Anna Kay Faris was born on November 29, 1976, in Seattle, Washington, to parents Jack and Karen Faris. As a child, Anna's parents encouraged her to act and even gave her a video camera as a gift to film herself. By the age of 9, Anna had made her professional acting debut at the Seattle Repertory Theater. She worked on her crafts in improvisational theater, and later did television commercials and performed in small local productions.

After graduating high school, Anna attended the University of Washington and majored in English Literature. After receiving her diploma, she relocated to London to work and write. However, she moved back to the U.S. to concentrate on acting after working on Lover's Lane.

While filming Lover Lane (1999), Anna Faris met and fell for actor Ben Indra (born on February 23, 1979). They began dating in 1999 and were married in June of 2004.

Initiating acting with theatrical performances and commercials by age nine, Anna Faris, who once worked at an advertising agency when she enrolled at the University of Washington, received her first television role when she was 15, playing Liz in the made-for-TV movie Deception: A Mother's Secret (1991). The drama starred Steven Weber, Katherine Helmond and Robert Hy Gorman. She continued with a small role in Howard Goldberg's drama Eden (1996) before vanishing from the screen for a few years.

Faris made her return in 1999 when she was cast as Jannelle Bay in the run-of-the-mill teen slasher Lover's Lane (1999). After her performance in the independent horror flick, she was determined to pursue acting full-time.

"It's very over the top and it's really, really raunchy. It pushes sexuality to a whole new level and I think it manages to be offensive to everybody. There are a lot of jokes and I think only the Wayans brothers can get away with, because some of it has to deal with racial stereotypes or gender stereotypes. It's really offensive, really raunchy and really silly." Anna Faris talking about Scary Movie In 2000, Faris' breakout role arrived with she starred opposite Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans and Shannon Elizabeth in the popular Scream spoof, Scary Movie (2000). Through her character as Cindy Campbell, a satirical Neve Campbell knockoff, Faris rose to fame with the success of the comedy film. She also participated in interviews, appeared on the cover of Raygun magazine, and collected a fan base.

The dark blonde-haired beauty delivered another blockbuster hit when she rejoined the cast of Scary Movie to reprise the role of Cindy Campbell for the sequel Scary Movie 2 (2001). Faris next costarred along side Angela Bettis and Jeremy Sisto in director Lucky McKee's offbeat sleeper May (2002), portraying Polly, the sexy co-worker and the main character's girlfriend. She also had a supporting role in the Rob Schneider comedy The Hot Chick (2002) and was featured in director Marni Banack's drama Winter Break (2003, starring Milo Ventimiglia and Maggie Lawson).

In Sofia Coppola's critically acclaimed Lost in Translation (2003), Faris scored another hit with her portrayal of self-centered starlet Kelly. The same year, she once again reprised the role of Cindy Campbell in Scary Movie 3 (2003), for director David Zucker, before she worked with Drew Mikuska and Sam Lloyd in the short film Spelling Bee (2004).

Anna recently starred as Belle, opposite Laura Breckenridge, in the comedy Southern Belles (2005) and portrayed Ryan Reynolds's tough-talking ex-girlfriend Serena in director Rob McKittrick's Waiting... (2005). Faris will soon appear as LaShawn, with Jake Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams, in director Ang Lee's romance/drama Brokeback Mountain (2005) and portray Samantha James in the comedy film Just Friends (2006). She is also set to play the female lead of Katie in the rock 'n' roll film Vinyl (2005, also starring Thora Birch) and reprise Cindy Campbell for Scary Movie 4 (2006).
